COLUMBIA - Soon 'Steve' Kim was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Taejon, South Korea. He served in both the South Korean and U.S. military, retired from the postal service after 20 years, and was a hard-working restaurant owner at Dino's on Decker Blvd. He was an elder at Carolina Korean Presbyterian Chuch, and a respected member of the Korean community in Columbia. Mr. Kim died Feb. 22, 2011, of a fatal gunshot wound from a robbery.

A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Yong Ae, of 32 years, and children, Jane Long, spouse, Ryan, in Charlotte, NC, and Annie Kim in New York City, and granddaughter, Mariah Long. Mr. Kim was known for his strong Christian faith, his work ethic and his love for people.

Funeral service will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home, Monday, Feb. 28, 12:30 p.m., followed by the burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. There will be a wake/memorial service at Greenlawn on Sunday, Feb. 27, 7 p.m.
