Fleming H. Jones

Col. Fleming H. Jones COLUMBIA - COL (R) Fleming H. Jones, 74, passed away at his home Friday, August 18, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. He was the son of the late Isaac & Lois Jones. Survivors include his wife Dianne, son, Fleming, Jr. (Bonnie), daughter, Shannon (Ben) and grandchildren, Mary, Meagan, John, Garrett, Cole & Torin. He is also survived by his brothers, Ike (Barbara) and Bobby (Janey) and many beloved nieces & nephews. Fleming was born in Lynchburg, VA, and grew up in Charlotte, NC. He graduated from St. Andrews University and later received his MBA from Webster University. Fleming began his Army career in 1967 as a second lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps and retired after 30 years. Following his military service, Fleming worked for BCBS, the USC Health Clinic and Wild Birds Unlimited and was an active member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, serving as both an Elder and a Deacon. Services will be held 2:30 o'clock Sunday, August 20th in the Chapel at Shives Funeral Home, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext., Columbia, with Dr. Ellen Skidmore officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, 6500 N. Trenholm Rd., Columbia, SC 29206.
