Andrew A. Friedland Sr., 71, of North Attleboro, MA passed away unexpectedly at his residence on February 10, 2021.
Born in Attleboro, MA on August 24, 1949, he was a son of the late Karl L. O. Friedland and the late Louise Rachel (Gracie) Friedland.
Andrew was the brother of the late Karl D. Friedland and the late Paula F. Cavalieri.
He was a dedicated caregiver and best friend to his mother. Andrew had a deep love for his family and the people around him. He loved the town of North Attleboro, its people and all the friends he made in the lifetime of living here.
Some of his most favorite memories were his boyhood summers working the lobster boats in Pemaquid, Maine. The times spent with a good friend in Boston Harbor on a boat pulling up to a restaurant for a drink, a meal and good company. And all the laughs he enjoyed needling his buddies on and off the jobs. Every story shared done with a twinkle in his eye.
He worked his entire career in the construction industry having been employed by Cavalieri Construction and Jeff Fisk. For many years he was self-employed and was a part of the "Big Dig". He was extremely proud of all the work he had done during his life. He would love to take drives around town and say I was a part of that development, I helped to make that happen or I was one of the last trucks to drive out of the Emerald Square Mall. In being self-employed many know when the day is over the work does not end. He spent many hours on maintaining his truck nights and weekends, he always expressed gratitude for those who helped him along the way and knew at times it wouldn't be possible without their time and friendships.
It is hard to get someone's lifetime into a paragraph, it is wished to share so many stories but in words to summarize I believe it's his deeply caring nature, unselfish generosity and friendship that made him such a wonderful person. He was truly woven into the fabric of so many of our lives and he will truly be missed.
He leaves three children: Jennifer Friedland of Florida; Andrew A. Friedland, Jr. of Lebanon, NH and Nicole Melendy and her husband Scott Melendy of Enfield NH. He also leaves grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
A private graveside service will be held in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Andrew's name to Bristol Elder Services, Inc., 1 Father DeValles Blvd #8 Fall River, MA 02723.
