GERVIS RAMSEY
ROODHOUSE - Gervis Rickey Ramsey, 69 of rural Roodhouse, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
He was born Aug. 14, 1944, in Rosedale, Ill., the son of Gervis B. and Constance Stiles Ramsey. He married Gisela H. Bayer Sept. 3, 1976, in Schwabach, Germany, and she survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Darlene (Jerry) Cox of Alton, Mary Ann (James) Smith of Brownsville, Texas, Delores Leato of Vernal, Utah, Shirley (Marc) Anter of Stein, Germany, and Tina Ramsey (companion Fred Davidson) of Roodhouse. There are eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren surviving along with four sisters, Vera Greisemer of Lincoln, Calif., Coleen Daniels of White Hall, Joyce Younker of Fairfield, Calif., Vinnie Rymel of Lincoln, Calif.; and two brothers, Alfred Ramsey of Jerseyville, and Eric Ramsey of White City, Ore.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Rick served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 20, 1965, until his retirement on July 31, 1988. During his 24 year career, he served two and one half years in Vietnam, where he received numerous medals and awards, including the Purple Heart, and Bronze Star Medals. He also served 14 years in Germany, and the balance of his duty in the United States. Upon his retirement, he worked for the Campbell Soup Company and other places in California. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 4647 in North Highlands, Calif. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, and attended the House of Restoration in Roodhouse.
Visitation: 4 p.m. until service time at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Inurnment will be at Camp Butler Cemetery at Springfield.

Mr. Ramsey you were a loving and caring man. You welcomed us into your home and treated us like one of your kids. You introduced me to nutella and now I have my kiddos hooked on it. You are going to be missed. I wish I had a chance to say goodbye. Rest in Peace. To my lovely Ramsey family my thoughts and prayers are with you <3
