Greenfield - Ronald Dean Fergurson of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. He had just celebrated his 88th birthday three days before.
Ronnie was the youngest son of Charles A. and Anna Celeste (Shepherd) Fergurson, also of Greenfield. He graduated from Greenfield Community High School in 1952 and went to work for the Olin Corporation in Alton, where he worked for 42 years. In February, 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Cannedy, who survives him.
He was a very proud father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by his family: Cindy Ferguson and Rob, Megan and Alex Mace of Scotts Valley, California; Justin Howell of Pasadena, California; Alan and Diane Fergurson of Montclair, New Jersey; Molly, Mark, Audrey and Lucy Gillon of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Adam Fergurson and Lauren Holguin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Randy, Tammy, Brad, Angelica, Sophia and Samuel Fergurson of Jacksonville; Jason Fergurson of Aurora, Illinois and Karen Fergurson, Francisco and Victoria Almanza of Osnabrueck, Germany.
During his life, he attended several Greenfield churches: First Baptist Church, Charity Southern Baptist Church and Rockbridge Methodist Church. An avid golfer, he was a proud member of the Woodbine Country Club for over 20 years.
The funeral for Mr. Fergurson will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Charity Southern Baptist Church in Greenfield with Pastor Preston McKinnon and Pastor Kevin Hembrough officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 until time of service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Charity Southern Baptist Church or the Greenfield Public Library.
