Barbara Bednash Obituary

Barbara A. Bednash, Eynon, died Tuesday morning at Mercy Hospital. She was the widow of Paul P. Bednash, who died May 2, 1984.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Joseph and Justine Kutch Kacer, she attended Carbondale schools and was a graduate of St. Rose High School. She was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Eynon, now Christ the King Parish, and she and her husband were proprietors of Chick's Bar and a produce stand on Main Street in Eynon for many years.

Barbara was a woman of strong faith, and her family was her utmost concern in life. She lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Ajay Sheety, Dr. Shubhra Sheety and Dr. Michael Gilhooley for their excellent care and compassion during Barbara's illness. Also, the staff of the Mercy Hospital ICU for its dedication and genuine caring. And last but not least to Jessica, Mom's nurse and friend, for all that she did to alleviate Mom's pain and suffering.

Surviving are four sons, Patrick, Eynon; Joseph and wife, Lori, Wiesbaden, Germany; Robert and wife, Tammy, Scott Twp.; and Stanley and wife, Ann Christine, Scott Twp.; five daughters; Maryanne Day and husband, Jeffrey, Sturges; Carolyn Marion and companion, Ross Frisbie, Archbald; Wendy Trigg and husband, Brian, Altus, Okla.; Chrissy Bednash and fiancé, Mark Longstreet, Eynon; and Julie Bednash and companion, Michael Urbanick, Eynon; 26 grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley and Dustin Day, John Marion, Brittany Bednash and Ryan Frisbie, Jessica, Marina, Haley and Alyssa Bednash, Kimberly and Nicole Bednash, Isaiah Bednash, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Corey Bednash, Jason and Stephanie Bednash, Adam and Andrew Trigg, Logan and Maegan Bednash, Brandon and Kyle Bednash, Mason Longstreet and Jordan and Caleb Tratthen; four great-grandchildren, Jaelynn Bednash, Lily Mascia, Carleigh Mueller and Aloah Woodrow; a brother, Stephen Kacer and wife, Grace, Carbondale; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Paul J. "Yogi" Bednash, on March 23, 2004; and two brothers, Joseph and Frank.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Louis J. Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church St., Archbald, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 417 Main St., Eynon. Burial, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

Visitation will be Friday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Donations may be made to Christ the King Renovation Fund, 429 Church St. Archbald, PA 18403; or to the American Diabetes Association, 65. E. Went to Mayfield schools with him and helped at his gas station.I left Mayfield in 1953 and really lost touch.
