David William Browning Obituary

David William Browning, age 62, of Spring Brook Twp., passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He and his wife, Mary Jo (Winckoski), were married in 1984.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of Charles and Joan Browning of Moosic. David graduated from Scranton Prep in 1976, and earned his degree in pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1980. In 2001, he furthered his education and received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Shenandoah University.

David was a kind, generous and selfless man who instilled these traits in his sons. He loved listening to all forms of music, but was especially enamored with jazz. As an avid reader, David was constantly advancing his knowledge of world history and politics. His next book was always ready to begin. Throughout his life, David was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed cheering for the Phillies and watching golf on Sundays. David loved the simplicities in life: the perfect book, pen or T-shirt. Most importantly, he loved his family.

In addition to his wife, Mary Jo, David is survived by son, Jeffrey Browning, daughter-in-law, Danielle, and grandson, Noah; son, Jonathan Browning and daughter-in-law, Kristi; sister, Terri Fulton and her husband, Chris; sister, Lisa Browning; brother by friendship, Joseph Gibbons and his wife, Maureen. Through marriage, he is survived by mother- and father-in-law, Dorothy and John Winckoski; sister-in-law, Paula Masters and husband, Robert; sister-in-law, Eileen Haas and husband, Steve. He also loved his many nieces and nephews, Adam, James, Eric, Allison, Kristen, Jennifer, Jacob and Colleen.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services LLC, 3 First St. in Spring Brook Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the North Pocono Public Library, 1315 Church St., Moscow, PA 18444. His kind and empathetic nature can also be honored by supporting Joseph R. Biden Jr. this November. To share your fondest memories of David, please visit the funeral home's website or Facebook page.
