Dolores "Dolly" O'Boyle passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her side Saturday, June 2, 2018.

Born in Throop, she was the daughter of the late Maynard and Margaret Tomasovitch Pilger. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and later received a degree in child care.

She fought a courageous battle with ovarian cancer for the last eight and a half years, which she handled with grace and dignity. She continued to amaze her doctors. She was one of the strongest women out there.

She had a love for Frank Sinatra's music, the New York Yankees, going to the casino and watching her grandchildren. Prior to retirement, she was the proud owner for 33 years of Dolly's Boutique in Scranton. The co-founder and first president of the Scranton Civic Ballet Company, she was a member of the Women's Republican Party of Scranton.

She is survived by her sister, Marge "Cookie" and her husband, Al DeMartino, Scranton; a brother, James Pilger and wife, Rachelle, Virginia Beach, Va.; her eight beloved children and best friends, James Dougher Jr. and wife, Jessica; Randy and Tamara; Antoinette and Shawn Witko; Patricia; Michael Dougher and fiancée, Jennifer Stiffer; Linda and Daniel Wigley; Kathleen and James Payeski; and Colleen and Kevin Zwick; her nephews, Joseph and wife, Cheryl Warrick; and Charles Warrick; her nieces, Janine Demartino McGoff and her husband, Mark; Beth DeMartino Ebersole and her husband, Daniel; and James Pilger Jr. She had 16 grandchildren, Caterina, Stacey, Christopher, Peter, April, Marisa, Brian, Billy, Lauren, Randy, Alyssa, Ty, Laney, Julia, "her boy," Brendan, and Mason; several great-grandchildren; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Charles and Dorothy Pilger Warrick; her husband, Patrick O'Boyle; and her precious granddaughter, Briana Barbiero.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
