Elizabeth J. "Betty" Davis, Lake Winola, passed away early Sunday morning at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of William A. Davis. The couple had been married for 65 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Leonard G. and Grace L. Ball Hockin. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School class of 1948 where she was a cheerleader for the football team. Betty was a former member of the Dunmore Presbyterian Church and was recently a member of the Jackson Street Baptist Church, where she was active with the Young at Heart Club. She served as a past president and was a member of the Lake Winola Women's Cottagers Association and was a former Girl Scout leader and counselor at Camp Archbald. Her other activities included membership in the St. David's Society of Lackawanna County, singing with various choral groups, including the Sweet Adelines and the Bell Telephone Pioneers.

Also surviving are daughters, Cynthia Sheehan; and Tamera Daniels and her husband, attorney Thomas Daniels, each of Lake Winola, Pa.; a son, William J. Davis and his wife, Janet Davis, of Nazareth, Pa.; grandchildren, Abigail Cravens and Brendan Sheehan, Thomas Daniels, Zachary Daniels, Madison Davis, Haley Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Leonard and Robert.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Jackson Street Baptist Church, 1206 Jackson St., Scranton, officiated by the Rev. Elliot Cooke.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St., Scranton, and Saturday morning from 9 until time of service at the church. Interment, Newton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson Street Baptist Church Deacon's Fund, 1206 Jackson St., Scranton, PA 18504, the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, or to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086.
