John R. Kelly of North Scranton died Wednesday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, following an illness. His wife of 46 years is the former Lenore Loftus.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Albina Savage Kelly. Before his retirement, he was employed for over 20 years at Schiff's Supermarket Maintenance Department, and had previously been employed by the Toledo Scale Co. for 22 years.

He was a good man who loved and lived for his family and always put their needs in front of his. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Also surviving are a son, Kevin and wife, Brandy, Roma Texas; a daughter, Lisa (Kelly) Zenker and husband, Philip, Scranton; five grandchildren, Heaven Lee, Kingston, Preston and Paxton Kelly, Philip "P.J." Zenker Jr.; a brother, Robert Kelly; a sister, Jean Schmidt; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Peter Kelly; and two sisters, Patricia Bailis and Barbara Moon.

The funeral will be conducted on Monday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Providence of God National Catholic Church, 1743 N. Sumner Ave., Scranton. Interment at the parish cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.

Family and friends may pay their respects Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William St., Dunmore, PA 18510.
