Loretta Anne Walsh Ludovici, of West Scranton, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Matthew Ludovici. The couple married May 13, 1952.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Moran Walsh. She attended St. Patrick's schools. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by McDonald's.

Loretta was first and foremost a proud homemaker and mother. Her family was the most important thing in her life, always participating in all of her children's activities, everything from sports events, Boys Club, Girls Club to the PTA, she was active in the Lafayette, Mother Cabrini and Sumner schools PTA.

An active member of St. Lucy's Church, she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and Mother Cabrini Society.

Loretta was a long-time member and held many offices with the Ancient Order of Hibernians, including State Parliamentarian, County Treasurer and Acting President of Division One.

She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage and was able to hand down to her children and grandchildren many of the Irish traditions and culture she learned from her mother, and also the very rich traditions of the Italian culture she learned from her mother-in-law.

A very giving person, she sponsored many Irish children over the years with the Project Children Program.

Loretta's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Drs. Lyons, Sebastianelli, Kutz and Brown, also Advanced Care Specialists and Nursing Staff.

Also surviving are her children, Matthew J. Ludovici and wife, Ann Marie, Atlanta, Ga.; Mary Ferrett, Lake Winola; Laura Salmons and husband, Richard, Scranton; Michael Ludovici and fiancée, Jonie Carozzi, Old Forge; Paul Ludovici, Bridget Ludovici and John Ludovici, all three of Scranton; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mario Ludovici; a daughter, Abigail; three sisters, Mary Anne Walsh, Patricia Gallucci and Anne Seyna; three grandchildren, Mark Anthony Ferrett, Mario Ludovici Jr. and Maura Ludovici.

The funeral will be conducted on Monday from the Guido-Fiorillo Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Ave., with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church, 949 Scranton St. Anyone wishing to attending the funeral is asked to kindly proceed directly to church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at Cathedral Cemetery.
