Sarah Pinto Palermo, 92, a former Dunmore resident, died peacefully at the Green Ridge Nursing Home of Scranton on June 7, 2018. She was married for 58 years to Vincent Palermo, who died in 2006. Sarah was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette Barrese Pinto.

Sarah was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Dunmore, where she was active in many church activities. She also was a former deacon of the church.

In her lifetime, Sarah was active in a variety of activities, including being a member of the Sweet Adelines and Eastern Star. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Boy Scouts of America. Sarah enjoyed many hobbies that included bowling, painting, gardening, various crafts, raising fish, hosting and attending parties, and cooking. She also enjoyed baby-sitting for friends and family.

Sarah is survived by three sons, Vincent Jr. and wife, Janel, of Mesa, Ariz.; Michael and wife, Patricia, of Allentown, Pa.; and David and wife, Christine, of Dunmore; five grandchildren, Aaron Palermo, Denver, Colo.; Capt. Michael Palermo Jr., Philadelphia; Jenna Palermo, Los Angeles, Calif.; David Palermo Jr., Olyphant; and Gina Palermo, Philadelphia. She is also survived by four sisters, Evangeline Trumbower, Vancouver, Wash.; Ninette Gordon, Scranton; Christina Arcangelo, Clarks Green; and Carmelina Foy, Clarks Summit; many nieces and nephews.

Sarah had three brothers who predeceased her, Anthony, Cataldo and Joseph Pinto; as well as a sister, Christine Pinto, who died in infancy.

The family of Sarah wishes to extend sincere appreciation for the kindness and care provided by the staff at Green Ridge Health Care Center and her church.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc. 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with services by the Rev. Kenneth Forbes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Dunmore. Interment will follow the service in the Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 until the time of the service. An Eastern Star service will be Friday at 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sarah's memory to the Presbyterian Church of Dunmore, 137 Chestnut St., Dunmore, 18512.
