Mary Claire "Moo" Blackwell, 85, Moosic, died Wednesday at Allied Hospice and Health Care Center, Scranton.

Born in Wyoming on Aug. 17, 1933, the daughter of the late Jack "Tennant" Walsh and Jenny (Lyons) Walsh, she was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was a graduate of Wyoming Area High School. She was employed by Bell Telephone, Rocky Glen Amusement Park, Montage Mountain, and she retired from Kmart in Moosic.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane and her husband, Charles Vermac Sr., Avoca; grandchildren, Charles Jr. and Belle Vermac; and her four-legged companion, Lilly.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Blackwell, who died Nov. 18, 1994; and her sister, Bobby Thompson.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, with the Rev. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Interment will be held at the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.

Friends may call Sunday evening from 5 to 8.
