Karen K. Jordan, 74, of Throop, passed away early Sunday morning, Feb. 10, surrounded by the ones who loved her most at the Allied Services Hospice Center.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Victor Johnson and Esther Stanton. Karen was educated in the Scranton School District, and was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral. Karen was the proprietor of Wigs by Karen, where she served the community for more than 30 years by assisting people struggling with cancer and other forms of hair loss. Her business was one of the first places recommended by cancer doctors in the area and the American Cancer Society due to her comforting nature and ease with customers. Karen courageously battled lung cancer for the past seven months but ultimately succumbed to the disease.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joanne Brudzinski; and brothers, Victor and Gregory Johnson. She is survived by her longtime companion, Thomas Gallagher; son, Thomas Stanko and Erin, Scranton; daughter, Deborah Saar and Jeffrey, Lake Ariel; son, Patrick Jordan and Mayra Alvarado, Alexandria, Va.; sisters, Sandra Kamarauskas, Scranton; Laura O'Hara and Robert, Blakley; Jacqueline Scarfalloto and Angelo, Montrose; Christine Henderson and Robert, Dickson City; Theresa Henderson and Harry, Scott Twp.; brother, John Johnson and Sandra, Greentown; grandchildren, Thomas Stanko, Shannon Chewning, Jacob Saar, Peyton Stanko and Ashley Stanko; great-grandsons, Cole and Jace; and great-granddaughter, Natalie. She also had several nieces and nephews.

Karen loved her dogs and had many throughout her life but standouts were Slugger, her Yorkshire terrier who was a fixture at Wigs By Karen for years, and Bear, her lab/rottweiler mix, that loved to greet guests at her home.

Karen's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the hospice nurses and staff of Allied Services Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during her cancer fight.

The funeral will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 445 Sanderson St., Throop, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Peter's Cathedral, 315 Wyoming Ave., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
