Obituary

Dr. James Amedeo Rosica, 88, of Tallahassee, Fla., and previously of Cherry Hill, N.J., passed away May 4.

He was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of Charles Francis and Rose Rosica, the second of four brothers. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School, and later became a Professed Brother of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales in Childs, Md. He left the Oblates and some years later married the former Catherine Arlene Alimenti on April 16, 1966, at St. Lawrence Church in Old Forge, Pa. They had one son, James Louis Rosica, to whom he passed down his sense of humor and the ridiculous.

He attended a few colleges, ultimately earning a doctorate in education from Rutgers University in 1982. Dr. Rosica was a teacher and vice principal in the Cherry Hill (N.J.) Public School District, including the former Brainerd Jr. High School and Beck Middle School, from the 1960s until his retirement in 1995. He was not an athlete, though he did enjoy the occasional game of tennis. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in his later years, both in the U.S. and abroad, with trips to Italy, Greece and Portugal. They moved to Tallahassee in 2013 to be closer to their son and his family.

He is survived by his three brothers, Charles V. Rosica, John Rosica and Thomas Rosica; his wife, Catherine Arlene Rosica; his son, James Louis Rosica; his daughter-in-law, Erin Buckner Rosica; and two precious grandchildren, Nicolas Patrick Rosica and Emilia Louise Rosica; and many others, including cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
