Alfred R. Rosengrant Obituary

Alfred R. Rosengrant, 93, of Cortez, died Friday evening at Allied Services Hospice Center following an illness. His loving wife of 74 years is the former Georgina Kizer.

Born Oct. 24, 1926, in Elmhurst, he was the son of the late Walter and Florence Sachse Rosengrant. He was a graduate of Lake Consolidated School. Before retirement, he was a supervisor for Wyoming Sand and Stone in Tunkhannock. He was a member of the Cortez United Methodist Church, Cortez, and attended Light of Christ Church, Mount Cobb. For many years, he was the Cortez United Methodist Church lay representative in the Wyoming Conference of the United Methodist Church. An avid map and deed reader, he was a member of the Jefferson Township Historical Society and loved talking about area history.

He loved camping and later spent winters in their mobile home in Winter Haven, Fla. While in Florida, they attended the Dundee Methodist Church and enjoyed attending gospel concerts while making many new friends.

The family wants to thank Ruth and all the health care givers that have come to the house and helped us through this difficult time.

Also surviving are his son, David Rosengrant and his wife, Lissette "Betty," of Maplewood; brothers, Stewart Rosengrant of Wysox and Ronald Rosengrant of Lake Henry; grandchildren, Debra Davis, Kimberly Dickey, David Rosengrant and Michael Dickey; great-grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Victoria Davis, Samuel Dickey, Alexandria Rosengrant, Alice Dickey and Jonathan Rosengrant; many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Dickey; sister, Katherine Harris; and brothers, Julius, Harry, Jim and Lloyd Rosengrant.

Due to the current health crisis, funeral services will be private.

Private interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

A memorial service will be celebrated at a date and time to be announced in the Light of Christ Church, Mount Cobb.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions be made in Alfred's name to the Light of Christ Church, 2071 Moosic Lake Road, Mount Cobb, PA 18436; or the Cortez United Methodist Church, 967 Cortez Road, Lake Ariel, PA 18436.
