Emerson J. Andrews Obituary

Emerson J. Andrews of the Tripp Park section of Scranton, a guest at the Linwood Health Care Center, passed away Friday, July 3, at the center following an illness. His wife of more than 50 years is the former Anita Powell.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Emerson and Mary Lavelle Andrews.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a house painter for many years.

Emerson was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan, and enjoyed spending time at Pocono Downs, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Also surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Gary Andrews and wife, Tiffany, Coopersburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Liam and Lilly Andrews; and two nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Andrews.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a committal blessing service Wednesday at noon at the Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum.

Attendees for the services are kindly asked to adhere to the CDC social distancing guidelines and a mask will be required.

Due to the current pandemic concerns, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care of the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
