Margaret Boyle Green Obituary

Margaret Boyle Green, wife of the late H. Nathan Green, passed away July 6, 2020, in Philadelphia. She was born March 8, 1934, in Wilkes-Barre, to the late Bernard J. Boyle and Ruth (Bloom) Boyle.

Margie grew up in Washington, D.C., and lived there until her marriage to Nate in 1967. After she married Nate, Margie spent almost 50 years on the Greenhome farm in Elk Lake, Pa., where she was known for her big heart, large holiday meals, legendary chocolate cake and determination to get her children college educated, which she did.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann Green (Ted Fristrom), Philadelphia; Meg Green, Easton, Pa.; and Betsy Green (Ben Schmidt) of Charlotte, N.C.; her siblings, Ann E. Boyle, of Fort Mill, S.C.; and John Boyle of Pray, Mont.; as well as many friends both near and far.

Before moving to NEPA, Margie worked as a secretary in Washington, D.C., where she got top-secret clearance for her work on the Pershing missile project, which she took pleasure in sharing with everyone, and spent two tours abroad with the American Red Cross in Okinawa, Japan, and Stuttgart, Germany.

After spending 10 years on the farm raising the girls, Margie returned to work as a secretary for the Elk Lake School District. She enjoyed cooking and baking, taking care of the dog, receiving flowers, and, in later years, eating ice cream and chocolate.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Margie's memory to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart at www.hospicesacredheart.org.

An online service will be held Saturday, July 11, at 10 a.m. EDT, and you can join the service here: https://sju.zoom.us/j/92250194039
