Margaret Agnes Furey Obituary

Margaret Agnes Furey, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, July 28, at Symphony Manor, Roland Park, surrounded by her family.

Born in 1940 in Coaldale, Pa., "Margie" Bonner attended Marian High School where she met her future husband, James Furey. She earned her associate degree in nursing from the Jefferson Medical College Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Margie practiced as a hospital nurse, office nurse and as a visiting home nurse. She loved caring for her patients who loved her back. As a visiting nurse, she often saved her paperwork to complete at home so she could make the most of her quality time with those in her care.

Margie had a great love of music. She played both the clarinet and piano, and would often be found listening to her extensive CD collection, ranging from musicals to big band swing to traditional Christmas songs. She loved church, a good game of cards and an occasional swig of beer, which her family attributed to her early years growing up in her father's bar. Margie visited many exciting destinations, including Ireland, Rome and Alaska. She also was lucky enough to take a trip across America!

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James F. Furey; brother, Robert Bonner of Palmerton, Pa.; and daughters, Jean Anne Walsh, Kathleen Furey, Denise Pfaff and Mary Luken, all of Baltimore, Md., and Patricia Kozler of Anchorage, Alaska. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and four sons-in-law.

A beloved sister, Anne Bonner Penberth, preceded Margie in death.
