Mary J. Kiehart Obituary

Mary J. Kiehart, 90, of Mayfield, died Saturday at Lackawanna Health & Rehab Center. She was the widow of John E. "Jack" Kiehart, who died in 2013.

Born in Childs to the late Dominick and Gilorma DeAngelis Leonard, she was a graduate of Mayfield High School. She worked for many years in the garment industry and was an officer in the ILGWU local chapter. Before retirement, she was employed at Marian Community Hospital as a unit secretary in the emergency department.

Mary was a devoted caregiver to her husband, children and, most especially, to her grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family and would whip up a batch of her famous mac n' cheese any time one of her grandchildren asked. She also loved to sew, paint and craft. Her handmade ornaments are now family heirlooms. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed traveling with Jack and the members of the Archbald Activity Club. She was a member of Sacred Hearts of Mary and Jesus Parish, Jermyn.

She is survived by her children, Annmarie and her son, Christopher, and granddaughter, Jazlina; John Kiehart Jr. and companion, Christine Davis; Nancy Krempasky and husband, Eric; Paula Knutelski and son-in-law, John Knutelski; grandchildren, Carissa, Daria and John Kiehart III, Emily and AJ Temple III, and Maria and Sarah Knutelski; two great-grandchildren, Max and Alex; her brother, Joseph Leonardo and wife, Doreen; sister-in-law, Stefanie Leonardo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank, James and Josephine.

The family wishes to thank the staff of C2 and activities department at Lackawanna Health and Rehab for their outstanding and compassionate care of Mary for the past three years. Mary will certainly miss her Lackawanna hall mates and neighbors Buddy, Tom, Leona and the late Loretta, whose friendship made her feel at home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lackawanna Health and Rehab Activities Department, 108 Terrace Drive, Olyphant, PA 18447.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, viewing and funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements, Ryczak-Harrison Funeral Home, Mayfield.
