Edward J. Wandell III Obituary

Edward J. Wandell III of South Scranton died Thursday at home. His wife of five years is the former Georgette Gyomory. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Oleski Wandell.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., son of Edward Jr. and the late Shirley Turner Wandell, he was a graduate of Edison Tech High School, Elizabeth, N.J. Before his illness, he was employed by Home Depot.

Ed was an avid sports fan following the Vikings, Yankees, Notre Dame, Duke and N.Y. Islanders. Ed loved attending NASCAR races with his wife Gigi, from Texas to Pocono and others in between. Ed spent his days tending to his beloved garden and cooking fresh meals for his family. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

Also surviving are daughter, Shannon Locker and husband, Craig, Arlington, Texas; son, Edward Wandell IV, Scranton; stepson, Holt Richter, Clarks Summit; grandson, Bryce Locker; granddaughter, Rose Richter; a brother; four sisters; nieces and nephews.

Arrangements and on-site cremation are under the care of the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton. Celebration of Life service will start Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Pavilion at McDade Park, Scranton.
