Mary A. Yerka Obituary

Mary entered into eternal life peacefully on Aug. 4. Born in Pittston on Feb. 7, 1926, Mary was educated in Pittston and at a very young age, started working in the garment industries until retirement from Throop Fashions.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank E. Yerka; two infant children; and her parents, Salvatore Ristagno and Josephine Callari Ristagno; sisters, Philomena, Sara and Nellie; and brother, Cataldo Ristagno.

Mary was a woman of strong Catholic faith, a longtime member of St. Bridget's Church, Throop, its Holy Rosary Society and an active volunteer. She loved the Dunmore YMCA, her many friends and her bus trips to Atlantic City.

Surviving are son, Anthony E. Yerka Sr. and wife, Lisa, Taylor; granddaughter, Melissa Martini and children, Gabriella and Nicholas, Olyphant; grandson, Anthony E. Yerka Jr., wife, Rebecca, and children, Anthony III and Lorelei, Dunmore; stepgrandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Evarts.

Also surviving are her beloved sisters, Delores Salvo and husband, Archie, Pittston; and Michelina Klimek, Dupont; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Rehabilitation in Taylor for their years of care.

A graveside blessing will be held at the Dunmore Cemetery on Friday, Aug. 14, at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, P.O. Box 37920, Boone, IA 5003-0920.
