Bruce J. Kizer Obituary

Bruce J. Kizer of South Scranton died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020, at the Riverside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after fighting a courageous five-year battle with cancer. His wife of more than 43 years is the former Delores (Dorie) Tomlin.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Benjamin G. and Angeline Gurnari Kizer. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, before retirement he was employed as a manager at Price Chopper.

Bruce loved being outdoors, swimming in the pool with his grandchildren and cruises. Bruce's sense of humor was famous among family and friends along with his infectious smile. Everyone who knew Bruce said he was a stand-up, approachable, kind person.

Bruce's proudest achievement, besides his children and grandchildren, was obtaining his second degree black belt.

Also surviving are sons, Bruce Kizer Jr., Taylor; and Brandon Kizer and wife, Megan, Carbondale; six grandchildren; sisters, Tina Evans and companion, Joe Wasilewski, Clarks Summit; and Tracey Hogans and husband, Richard, Scranton; brother, Barry Kizer, Taylor; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may pay their respects Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton. Due to state mandates, only 25 people at a time will be allowed in the funeral home. Attendees will need to adhere to social distancing guidelines and masks will be required. A blessing service for the family will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the , , 110 W. Laurel Ave., Cheltenham, PA 19012.
