Johnathan Sawko Obituary

Johnathan Sawko, 29, of Scott Twp., died Wednesday morning in Pike County.

Born in Carbondale, son of Edward Sawko and the late Jennifer Wisniewiski, he was a graduate of Holy Cross High School, class of 2010, and in his younger years, was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Olyphant where he sang in the choir. He honorably served his country with the United States Marine Corps and was employed as a corrections officer at the federal prison in Otisville, N.Y.

He loved animals, playing his guitar, and spending his time with family and friends.

He is also survived by his brother, Michael Roberts of Scranton; his uncle, Andy Wisniewiski of Scott Twp.; his maternal grandmother, Rosemarie Sember of Scott Twp.; and several cousins.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Fran Sember; and maternal great-grandparents, Andrew and Anna Benio.

There are no calling hours. The services will be at the convenience of the family with interment in St. Cyril's Cemetery, Peckville.

Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 135 River St., Olyphant, PA 18447. Arrangements by the John J. Turko & Sons Funeral Home, Dickson City.
