Fay Ann Evans Gable Obituary

Fay Ann Evans Gable, 83, of Taylor, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 18, at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa. She was the wife of the late Thomas W. Gable. They were married on Oct. 19, 1957, and their love story continued for 42 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Hilda Sultzer Evans and was a 1954 graduate of Taylor High School. In 2014 the Riverside School Board honored her for her more than 35 years of service. Fay and her late husband, Tom, started the Taylor Miss-E league and she was a manager from 1970 until 1980. Fay had a great Christian faith and love for God. She was a member of the United Baptist Church, Scranton, where she was a deaconess. She also was a member of the United Baptist Church and Eastern Star, Martha Washington Chapter, both of Taylor. Fay was a giving and generous woman who always put the needs of others before her own, especially her family and the students of Riverside. Her granddaughters and great-granddaughter were her everything. Fay had a deep and genuine love also for animals. Her kindness, humbleness, love and generosity will never be forgotten.

Fay's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Ken Sebastanelli and Dr. Maryanne Santioni and her nurse, Joanne, for all their care and compassion. Also to the staff of the third floor of the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa., especially, Kelly, Claudia, Penny, Kathi, Ruthie, Gina, Mary Ann, Liza, Lashawnta, Elena, Jean, Leighann, Nicole, Brittany, Sherry and Brianna. You are all incredibly special angels.

Surviving are two daughters, Darlene Gable Williams and husband, George, Taylor; and Robin Gable Southgate-Sands and husband, Jonathan, Breinigsville; Nana to five beloved granddaughters, Jaime, Dana and Kelsey Williams, and Jessica and Danielle Southgate-Sands; and Na to her only great-granddaughter, Jenna Williams; a brother, Gordon Evans and wife, Carol, Shavertown; two sisters, Janet Zimmer and husband, George, Taylor; and Margaret Rousseau and husband, Bill, Savannah, Ga.; a brother-in-law, Edward Harazak; and "her son," Andy Haryluck; nieces, nephews and cousins.
