George Edmunds Obituary

George Edmunds, 69, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died suddenly of cardiac arrest on June 6 in Port St. Lucie. He was the husband of Miranda Edmunds.

Born in Carbondale on May 30, 1951, son of the late Edmund and Delores Wilce Edmunds, he was a 1969 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving for six years; he then enlisted with the United States Army, serving for 14 years. After his retirement from the military, he took a job at Nu-Co Industries as a dispatcher in Stuart, Fla., where he was employed until the time of his death.

George enjoyed golfing, his trips to Pennsylvania and his trips to the casino. While he was in Carbondale, he greatly enjoyed his daily stop at the Carawanna to have his favorite chili burger.

Also surviving are his daughter, Mandy Edmunds; and his son, George Edmunds, both of Florida; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary McLaughlin, Carbondale; a niece, Lori McLaughlin, Carbondale; and several cousins.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, E.F. Edmunds and James Edmunds; and a brother-in-law and good buddy, Joe McLaughlin.

Rest in peace, George. You are missed and loved and will always be in our hearts and our wonderful memories.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, graveside services in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery will be held at a date to be announced.
