Warren W. "Niney" Maxson Obituary

Warren W. "Niney" Maxson, Scranton, died Tuesday at Moses Taylor Hospital after an illness. His wife was the former Phyllis Ann Jones.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Herbert E. Sr. and Gertrude Morgan Maxson and was a graduate of West Scranton High School and also attended the University of Minnesota. He was a United States Army veteran.

A dedicated and proud Freemason, Warren was a 1978 past master of Union Lodge 291 also serving as secretary. He received the York Rite highest award, the Knight York Cross of Honor.

Also surviving are his daughters, Shirley and Shelly; sons, Steven and Warren; sisters, Joan Campbell and Diane Newman; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sandrea Ann; and brothers, Herbert, Norman and Morgan.

Services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages memorial contributions be made to Masonic Blood Drive Program, c/o Brother Gary Davis, P.D.D.G.M., 224 Red Haven Drive, North Wales, PA 19454-1439.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Scranton.
