Robert P. Ritterbeck Obituary

Robert P. Ritterbeck, 92, of Spring Brook Twp., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jayne M. (Bracey) Ritterbeck, who passed away Jan. 9, 2014. The couple was married 62 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late August A. and Agnes (Phillips) Ritterbeck. Bob graduated from St. Mary's High School, and the University of Scranton, earning his bachelor's degree in accounting. Before retiring, he operated Robert P. Ritterbeck Painting, a multigenerational painting and decorating contractor for several Catholic dioceses. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in South Scranton, and later, the Church of St. Eulalia, Roaring Brook Twp.

Bob's main focus in life was his family and his work. He loved a good game of Yankees baseball, dancing with Jayne, traveling and crazy theme parties. Upon retirement, they enjoyed frequent trips to Howard Park to enjoy their cocktails and watch the sunset on the water.

Bob is survived by his five sons, Gerard and wife, Mary; Robert and wife, Suzanne; Daniel and wife, Ann; Michael and wife, Ruthe; and Thomas; his sister, Nancy McDowell and her husband, Ken; as well as 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Agnes Thorne, Marion Ritterbeck and Annette Kennedy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Eulalia, 214 Blue Shutters Road, Roaring Brook Twp., to be celebrated by the Rev. Jeffrey D. Tudgay. Family and friends are kindly requested to proceed directly to the church on Monday morning.

A viewing will be held Sunday, Sept. 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services LLC, 3 First St., Spring Brook Twp.
