Helen (Pavuk) Telep Obituary

Helen (Pavuk) Telep, 97, of Clarks Summit, Pa., fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday night at Carbondale Nursing and Rehab. Even in the midst of this viral pandemic, she simply passed away from old age.

Born to the late John Sr. and Helen (Micklick) Pavuk of Jessup on Aug. 5, 1923, Helen graduated salutatorian from Jessup High School in 1940. She then graduated from St. Thomas Commercial School in 1942, and later attended Penn State Night School. Following graduation, she held a position as supervisor at Scottie Electronics in Jessup for several years, and afterwards for Daystrom Instrument in Archbald, where she was the lone corporate female supervisor.

Helen dedicated 35 years working as a receptionist and office manager for two of her younger brothers, Dr. Myron and Dr. Peter, in the dental office of the Pavuk Professional Building in Blakely, Pa.

Following her retirement, Helen greatly enjoyed visits from her two grandsons, or visiting them in California, as often as possible. And she prayed for her beloved grandsons constantly.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Helen was a longtime member of St. John's Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Mayfield, Pa. Even during the last several years of her life, while living at Carbondale Nursing Home, she enjoyed listening to the Divine Liturgy from St. John's Cathedral every Sunday on the radio.

The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the nurses, aides and all the staff at Carbondale Nursing & Rehab, for their compassion and kindness in caring for Helen while she resided there.

She is survived by her two sons, Father Gregory, Waverly Twp.; and Bartholomew (wife, Lydia), Agoura Hills, Calif.; two loving grandsons, Seraphim, Irvine, Calif.; and Nektary, Orange, Calif.; brother, Michael Pavuk, of Waverly Twp.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Donald (Donat); eight brothers, John, Bart, Myron, Tom, infant Andrew, Peter, Dan, infant Gregory; and sister, Mary Reposh.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, Sept. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Mayfield, Pa., which will be immediately followed by a Panakhida service. The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Cathedral, followed by interment at the parish cemetery in Mayfield. Repast will be held at Fiorelli's in Peckville.

Helen's sons request that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Helen's memory, to either St. Gregory Palamas Monastery & Seminary, P.O. Box 398, Etna, CA 96027; or Holy Trinity Monastery & Seminary, P.O. Box 36, Jordanville, NY 13361, https://hts.edu/support. When you make a donation, please specify that it is, "In memory of Helen Telep." Thank you.
