Thomas P. Gallagher, 79, of Scranton, died on Wednesday at Allied Hospice Center, Scranton.

Born March 7, 1941, in Scranton, son of the late Anthony J. and Angela Caffrey Gallagher, he was raised in the Notch Section of North Scranton. A graduate of Holy Rosary High School, he pursued a career in truck driving, working for APA Transport for many years, behind the wheel of the big rigs, before retirement. He fulfilled a dream to own his own car lot, TG Auto, first in Clifford, and later in Mayfield. He was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Rosary and St. Peter's Cathedral, and a proud member of Teamsters Local #229. Tom enjoyed many friendships at The Tauras Club and The Polish Club in the old neighborhood.

He loved all animals and was passionate about cars and trucks. At heart, he was a Cadillac guy.

He is survived by his three sons, Thomas P. Gallagher and wife, Mary Clare, Inman, S.C.; Mark and wife, Debbie, Scott Twp.; and Jack, Clarks Summit; a daughter, Kellie Sharpe and husband, Robert, Blakely; a brother, Gerald Gallagher and wife, Barbara, Santa Barbara, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Patrick and Tommy Gallagher, Mayfield; Kelsey Arvonio and husband, Andy, Greenfield Twp.; Katie and Lauren Sharpe, Blakely; and Kieran and Brody Gallagher, Clarks Summit; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Jack.

The funeral will be conducted on Monday, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 320 William St., Scranton. Family and friends may pay their respects at the church from 9 a.m. until the commencement of services. Masks required and social distancing procedures are in effect.
