Phyllis (Mitchell) Grzebin Obituary

Phyllis (Mitchell) Grzebin, Jefferson Twp., passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at her daughter's home surrounded by her family. Her beloved husband of 64 years, Chester M. Grzebin, preceded her in death Oct. 12, 2012.

Born April 10, 1929, in Jefferson Twp., she was the daughter of the late Arthur H. and Marguerite (Compton) Mitchell. Phyllis graduated from the Jefferson School and retired from Shaffer's Store, where she worked as a baker.

In her earlier years, Phyllis was a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader and volunteered at Youth for Christ canteen. She attended First Baptist Church of Hollisterville. Phyllis' love for God and her family was very clear by the way she sacrificed for others throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Phyllis was the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; the memories she made with her family will be cherished forever.

Surviving are her children, C. Michael Grzebin Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Louisa, Va.; and Sharon Grzebin Swartz and her husband, Jim of Jefferson Twp.; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Grzebin and his wife, Katie of Moyock, N.C.; Stephen Grzebin and his wife, Jen of Shepherdsville, Ky.; Krista Swartz of Jefferson Twp.; Garrett Swartz and his wife, Katie of Jefferson Twp.; Jessica Karamoutsos and husband, Kyriakos of Henrico, Va.; Jamie Gofgosky of Louisa, Va.; and Eric Gofgosky and girlfriend, Morgan Talbot of Marathon, N.Y.; her 10 great-grandchildren, Maximus, Grace and Reagan Grzebin, Thomas and Jacob Grzebin, Garrett and Gavin Swartz, and Apostolos, Alekos, and Vaia Karamoutsos; and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her two brothers, Donald and Gerald Mitchell.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lawrence, Dr. Lohin, Dr. Moran, Allied Hospice, especially her nurse Barbara and her CNA Penny, for their compassionate care.

Services will be private by Pastor Jim Sheridan of the First Baptist Church of Hollisterville.
