Andrew T. Baransky Obituary

Andrew T. Baransky, 87, of Jessup, passed away Friday at Abington Manor after an illness. His wife of 47 years was the former Regina Langan, who died Oct. 21, 2005.

Born in Throop, he was the son of the late Andrew M. and Helen Berta Baransky. He attended grade school in Swoyersville and Scranton and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force serving four years, two-and-a-half of which were served in Japan.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 34-plus years. He served many positions in the local union and retired as clerk craft director. After his retirement he served as legislative director for 10 years. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus 2048, Archbald, and was the Color Corps commander. He was also a third degree member of the Jessup Council 10729. He was a recipient of the Legion of Honor Award by the Chapel of the Four Chaplains in 2007. He was a volunteer of both the Cemetery Committee Board and the cemetery staff. He co-founded the Postal Retiree's Breakfast Club.

Surviving are two sons, Andrew and wife, Blanche, Clarks Summit; and Frank, Jessup; and a daughter, Master Chief Petty Officer Patrice Frede, United States Navy, active duty, and husband, Pete, Greenville, N.C.; a granddaughter, Shannon Baransky; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph. The funeral and burial will be private due to the coronavirus.
