Miriam Cron Jones, 91, of Newfoundland, died Wednesday at home. She was the widow of Arthur V. Jones, who died Sept. 9, 1994. Born in Sterling, Pa., daughter of the late Harry and Helen Frick Cron, a 1947 graduate of Greene-Dreher High School, she was member of the Newfoundland Moravian Church, where she was an elder on the board, active with the choir and the bell choir. Before retirement, she was employed by Bell Telephone as an operator in Honesdale. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Harriet Greene Chapter 198. Miriam was active in her community, a former member of the Community Women's Club, the Honesdale Choralaires, Greene-Dreher Historical Society, and a longtime volunteer at the Newfoundland Food Pantry. She line danced at the Hamlin Senior Center. Miriam was a loving and caring sister, grandmother and aunt who will be deeply missed. She is survived by two brothers, Clifford Cron and Erma, Sterling; Robert Cron and wife, Meryl, Newfoundland; a sister, Phyllis Jones, Newfoundland; two grandsons, Matthew Jones and wife, Linda, Tafton; Jason Jones and wife, Amy, Newfoundland; three great-granddaughters, Amanda, Ashley and Olivia; two great-grandsons, Parker and Matthew Jr.; four nieces, Karen Moore and husband, Marc; Sharon McCutechen and husband, Mike; Lisa Faunstock and husband, Eugene; Robin Corey and husband, Charles; one great-niece, Cori Decatur and husband, James. The funeral will be Monday with services at noon in Newfoundland Moravian Cemetery, 982 Main St., Newfoundland. Interment, Hopedale Moravian Cemetery, Newfoundland. Friends may call Monday from 11 until the service. Anyone attending is asked to walk through quickly to pay their respects and avoid physical contact. Facial covering will be required.
