Leah F. Ernst Grace
Port Huron
Leah F. Ernst Grace, 88, of Port Huron, entered eternal life on Friday, March 7, 2014. Her spirit will live on in her six children, 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, her two surviving siblings, and an extended family of relatives and friends. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from her during her 88 years, among them: never, ever be fearful of storms, to laugh often and love much.
She was born on September 11, 1925 in Port Huron.
Also: let your dog share your bed; if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all and beauty is as beauty does-so always, always do beautiful things. Don't make that awful face again "because your face will freeze like that." And "put that pouty lip away because some bird will come along and poop on it." Take magazines you've already read to your hair salon for others to enjoy. Never say mean things about anybody. And give to every charity that asks. Choose to believe the best about what they do with your money, no matter what your children say they discovered on the internet.
Leah is survived by her daughters, Nora (Gary) Dean, Joe Ann Burgett, Vickie Burgett (Brad Burda), Charlene Burgett, Nan (Dave) Perley and her beloved son, Ted (Debbie) Ernst; 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren whose photos she would share with prospective friends in the checkout line, beauty salon or physician's office; her surviving siblings, Averill and Elmer and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.
Leah is reunited with her husbands, Eddie Grace, George Ernst and John Burgett, her mother, Mildred Dodge and father, Elmer Matts.
