Sherman Kennedy, age 87, died March 18, 2014 in Marwood Nursing and Rehab after a long illness.  He was born March 21, 1926 in McCool, Mississippi.  He completed his G.E.D. through adult education classes.  He worked 20 years at Mueller Brass and 20 years at Detroit Edison before his retirement.  He was a member of the First Unity United Methodist Church in McCool, Mississippi where he was chairman of the trustee board and a choir member.  He was also a member of the Rising Star Lodge #282 in Weir, Mississippi, the Beacon Club in Port Huron, and was a troop leader with the Boy Scouts. Sherman enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn, children, Sherman (Connie) Kennedy Jr., Sherome Kennedy, Lisa Faulkner, Darryl Pinnix, Stacy (Joe) Bixler, and Tracy (Oliver) Glenn, his sisters, Colleen McPherson, Crystal White, Mae (Lewis) Wright, Pandora Brown, Marion Murray, Josephine Samuels, Ethel Taylor, and Alice Politt, a brother, David Kennedy, sister-in-law, Dorothy Morgan - Down, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sons, Karl Kennedy and Tim Pinnix.

A funeral service will take place at 11a.m. Saturday in Faith Christian Community Church with Elder John E. Thornton officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 at the Smith Family Funeral Home - North, 1525 Hancock Street.    Memorials may be made to the
