Fort Gratiot - Carole E. Jackson, age 83, of Fort Gratiot died June 9, 2018 after a short illness. She was born December 18, 1934 in Imlay City, Michigan and was a lifelong Blue Water area resident. She married Donald E. Jackson on May 31, 1958 in Port Huron at Trinity Lutheran Church. Carole was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran where she sang in the choir. She was a 1956 graduate of the University of Michigan Nursing School and worked at both Mercy and Port Huron Hospital. She enjoyed playing bridge, camping, and golf. Carole also loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald E. Jackson, 4 children, Elise Jackson Sams, Julie (Tony) Barko, Amy (Thomas) Wessel, and Thomas (Michelle) Jackson, 5 grandchildren, Joshua Barko, Lauren (Nathan) Watson, Jacob Wessel, Kelsey-Ann Wessel, and Alexandra Jackson, a sister Sharon (David) Jackson, a sister-in-law, Sheri Kaiser, and an abundance of loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Samantha Sams, son-in-law, Robert Sams, and a brother, John Kaiser.

A funeral service will take place at 11 AM Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Rev. Dr. Mark J. Madson officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at Kinney Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Smith Family Funeral Home - North, 1525 Hancock Street. There will also be visitation at the church beginning at 10 AM on Wednesday.
