Judith L. "Judy" Devereaux Cadillac Judith L. "Judy" Devereaux, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at her home surrounded at her husband and children. She was 62. She was born December 24, 1950 in Bad Axe, Michigan to Albert J. and Doris M. (Gover) Thoms. Judy attended St. Clair County Community College. She was raised in Huron County and was active in 4-H. She was a dedicated Navy wife for 20 years, living in Jacksonville, Florida, Charleston, South Carolina and Long Island, New York. Judy began her real estate career in 1985 and became managing broker for Coldwell Banker Schmidt in 1992. During her real estate career she received numerous awards. She was past president of the Paul Bunyan Board of Realtors as well as past chairman of the Wexford- Missaukee MLS committee. She was also a member of the Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Home Builders Association and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cadillac. Judy was proud to be a breast cancer survivor as well as a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. She enjoyed taking her Collie dogs to meet the shut ins at the Lakeview, camping, word games, quilting, sewing and reading. Judy also enjoyed activities such as: mountain biking, snow shoeing and aqua aerobics. On March 5, 1971 in Port Huron, she married James H. Devereaux and he survives her with their children, Amy (Jeff) Wagner of Cadillac and Ryan (Diane) Devereaux of Lowell, Michigan; 2 grandchildren, Caleb and Audrey; siblings: Carl (Colleen) Thoms, Alan (Kathy) Thoms, Shirley (Pele) Tautolo, Leo (Lynn) Thoms; brother in law, Ed Tschirhart and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marlene Tschirhart. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cadillac with Reverend Joel Hess officiating. Friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
