Shirley J. Allen Obituary
Shirley J. Allen Marysville Mrs. Shirley Jessie "Lovey" Allen, 89, of Marysville, died peacefully Wednesday, June 16, 2010. She was born January 7, 1921 in Detroit to the late George and Margaret Niepoth. She married William Grant Allen on November 20, 1941. In addition to being a housewife and mother, she worked as a high school librarian aide in Milford and as a secretary for many years at Great Lakes Plastics Company in Salem, Michigan. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She instilled a great creative spirit in her children and grandchildren, who adored her. Family members will treasure many of her beautiful handmade items. Her many travel experiences with the Wayne State University Alumni and family took her to many ports of call including Japan, China, Mexico, Egypt, Africa and many European countries. A visit to her apartment in Ann Arbor was like a walk through a museum. "Lovey" is survived by two daughters, Susan (Charles) Andrews of Marysville and Margaret Allen (Bill Wilson) of St. Clair; a son, William Allen (Jean Herman) of Stillwater, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Mike, Noah, Amy, Lindsey, Jason and Tim; a brother, George (Mary Ann) Niepoth of Milford; a sister, Maxine Taylor of Milford; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gretchen Tuohey and Jane McHale. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 in the Marysville Funeral Home.
