Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Spencer

Brown City

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Spencer age 92 of Brown City died on July 17, 2014.  She was born April 25, 1922  in Jeddo, Michigan  to Charles and Estella Granger . She attended Croswell High School and graduated in the class of 1939. She then married Lawrence Spencer on November 8, 1941 at her parents house in Jeddo, Michigan.

Betty was a housewife and mother and also had worked as a librarian at Brown City Schools. 

She had been a long time active member of the Missionary Church first in Yale then Brown City where she played piano and organ and was a member of the women's missionary group.  Betty made quilts for each of her children and liked to bake and grow a garden.

Betty is survived by her four children Carol (Daniel) Null of Elkhart, IN, Gary (Peggy) Spencer of Fostoria, Jack (Rose) Spencer of Kentwood and David (Susan) Spencer of Fife Lake and a daughter in law Marge Spencer, 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She proceeded in death by her husband Lawrence and her son Kent Spencer and also a daughter Eunice Spencer, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

A visitation will be held at the Brown City Missionary Church, Sunday  July 20, 2014 from 2:00 pm  to 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at the Brown City  Missionary Church on Monday at 11:00 am, July 21,  2014 with Pastor Rick Fledderjohn officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen cemetery.

   Memorials may be made to Brown City Missionary Church or Brown City Camp or Heartland Hospice.
