George F. Crackel, Jr.


Mr. George F. Crackel, Jr., 92, of Marysville, passed away on September 29, 2013 in Port Huron Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on November 15, 1920 in Port Huron, son of the late George and Luella Crackel.

George married Lorna June Miller on November 29, 1942, she passed away on April 30, 2002.

He served in the United States Army. He was the longtime owner operator of Topper Cabinets. George was a member of Sturges Memorial Congregational Church, VFW, American Legion and the Port Huron Power Squadron. He also enjoyed fishing.

George is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer (Larry) Garrow of Boynton Beach, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, George F. (Lori) Crackel III of Applegate; son-in-law, Lloyd Hitchings of Marysville; six grandchildren: Kelly Marsh, Larry and Jeffrey Garrow, Carla Robinson, Christopher and Benjamin Crackel; ten great-grandchildren: Samantha Ofeno, Bethany Marsh, Christa and Shayna Robison, Joshua and Benjamin Owings, Stephanie and Kaitlyn Garrow; Nichols Garrow and Chase Robison and a great-great-grandson, Mason Ofeno; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Hitchings in April 20, 2012 and a sister, Dora Stuller, who passed away in 2013.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday in Sturges Memorial Congregational Church, 2729 Ravenswood Road, Port Huron. Pastor Rob Harrell will officiate.   Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street, Port Huron and Friday 11:00 a.m. until the time of services in the church.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Robison, Jeffrey Garrow, Larry Garrow II, Christopher Crackel, Benjamin Crackel and Ted Marsh.

Memorial tributes may be made to the Sturges Memorial Congregational Church.

St. Clair County Allied Veterans will conduct Military Honors.
