Jere Francis Baldwin, MD

Jere Francis Baldwin, MD, 67, passed away on February 3, 2017 in Dallas, TX.  Jere was born February 23, 1949 in Johnson City, NY.  He was a graduate of Assumption College, Worchester, MA in 1970 and received his Doctor of Medicine from L'Universite Catholique de Louvain, Leuven, Belgium in 1978.  He completed his Family Practice Residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center, Detroit, MI in 1981.  He previously served as the Medical Director of the Emergency Department and Occupational Health at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron, MI.  In addition, he served on Tri Hospital's Board of Directors and on Basic Trauma Life Support's Board of Directors as the Chairman.  Dr. Baldwin contributed to the writing of the BTLS manual, had a patent for a teaching larynx and taught Basic Trauma Life Support for over two decades.  His lifelong devotion to excellence in healthcare is exemplified by recognitions for the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians Emergency Physician of the Year Award, BTLS International John Campbell MD Award for Medical Director of the Year and the American Heart Association Zacharias Award for Excellence.  

He is survived by his mother, Lucille Chase, his wife of 37 years, Karen Baldwin, daughters Kelley Baldwin, MHSA, Carrie Baldwin, DMD, MD, son, Joseph Baldwin, MD, cousins, and three brother-in laws and their families.  He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Baldwin.  

Memorial services will be held on February 10th in Cape Cod, MA and June 3rd in Caseville, MI. Contributions in memory of Jere may be made to the Dr. Jere Baldwin EMS Education Fund through Chemical Bank in Port Huron, managed by Ken Cummings, Director of Tri Hospital EMS.
