So sad to read of Vincenzo's passing. While we never had the pleasure of eating at his resturant in North Carolina we did have the pleasure of his fine service and friendship at Trottaria Romano here on Staten Island.
Vincenzo was the true meaning of a restauranteur and always made us feel at home.
May God bless him and give his family the wisdom and comfort.

We were so deeply saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Vincente just before Christmas, and we promise to pray for the repose of his soul and to pray for comfort and strength for his son Alberto so he can carry this terrible cross and for all the staff at Prego's. My brother, husband, and I ate at Prego's for the first time for lunch when we were scoping out the Triad less than a year ago, and it quickly became our favorite place to diner. We have been back so many times since, always feeling welcomed and loved and leaving well-fed with spirits lifted. Vincente was from Ecuador, like my mom, and when we brought her for dinner there just a month ago, he was such a gentleman and spent time talking to her and helping to make her visit so much more special. The staff at Prego are all personable and wonderful down-to-earth people and we hold each of you in our hearts in prayer. May our Lord show his tender mercy to Vincente and be a source of solace and strength to all the staff at Prego, especially to Alberto.

I'm so saddened and shocked at the loss of our friend Vicente. My family and I have dined at Prego since it opened. Vicente was always kind, greeted us with hugs and always remembered my girls who have grown up eating homemade pasta from Prego. His passing reminds me that we are all on borrowed time and that the Lord will collect us when he's ready. I still can't believe we won't see him again on our visits to see my parents. Many many thoughts and prayers. Love Gina, Margarita, Nelson et al

Always a pleasure to dine at Prego's. We are greatly distressed and saddened to hear the news of Vincente's passing. A true professional, without doubt an outstanding restauranteur who made Prego's the best restaurant in Burlington's history. The cuisine was extraordinary, but most especially because we were slays greeted warmly by Vincente who made us feel like family. One night Vincente brought us pannacotta - which we loved - and like everything else - was delicious and unforgettable. Vincente's legacy is Prego's. We will miss him!

We were deeply saddened upon hearing of Vicente 's passing this week. The first time I visited Prego's was for my interview luncheon, and I think his wonderful hospitality, love of music and friendly nature helped sway my decision to take the job here in Burlington. He will be missed so very much. Condolences to his family and his many friends, who he treated like family. Dona Nobis Pacem.

We first ate at Prego's a few years ago when my brother and father came to visit from Asheville. My dad ate the stuffed pepper special and he liked it so much he went back the next day and had it again. He talked about it for days afterwards and when he would come into town, he would call Prego's to ask if they had the stuffed pepper on the menu. My dad eventually learned that everything at Prego's is delicious and he didn't need to holdout until they had this dish on the menu. Every time he came into town, my dad would go to Prego's and he went so frequently that he and Vincente became friends. They shared the same entrepreneurial spirit in which they worked hard their entire lives to build a business that they used to live out their passions and support their families. The last time my father saw Vincente was just a few hours before the accident. My dad went to Prego's and Vincente insisted on waiting on him personally so they could chat and catch up. At the end of the meal, Vincente offered to make my dad a stuffed pepper to take home even though it wasn't on the menu that night. Remembering that my dad loved that meal and being willing to make it was the kind of gesture that made Vincente so special. Vincente was not just interested in making delicious food (although he did), he was providing a first class dining experience from the moment you walked in the door and he greeted you with a handshake or a hug until the moment you left. When we heard the news of his passing, we were shocked and heartbroken. My dad came over to our house this week and brought his left over stuffed pepper as a way of remembering a man whose simple gesture represented the way he lived his life and cared for his customers. To his family and friends who are hurting, we mourn alongside you. Vincente was a gem in our community and he will be sorely missed by many.

We are truly saddened to learn of Vincent's passing. He was always such a gentleman. Always cheerful, welcoming, a man of humility, hard-working and with a smile on his face; he certainly enhanced the Burlington community. I recall when he first opened Prego's and how his sheer determination made it a place to see and be seen in Alamance County. He corrected my feeble Italian with a twinkle in the eye and I shall miss him greatly. We offer our condolences to Alberto, family & staff. Curt & Kathy Minaya. Port St. Lucie, Florida

After many years of dining at Prego's, we are deeply saddened. Prior to moving to Big Pine Key FL back in September, we frequented there as it truly was Burlington's finest dining experience. We spent many evenings there celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions, family Christmas dinners, New Year's Eves and Saturday Date Nights with you all. Every meal was delicious and we were treated with class! The only time Vicente was away, we knew he was visiting his mom. But the kids didn't miss a beat- the restaurant ran smoothly; always on point. Vicente, your infectious smile, love for fine dining and hospitality towards your many patrons was impeccable. We had just spoken of Prego's the night of your passing saying it would be so cool to clone you all and have a Prego's here in FL! Thank you for the many memorable evenings among friends. May the Lord lift us all as we go through this time together. Blessings to all.
