Johnnie Russell Lemmons
Funeral services for Mr. Johnnie Russell Lemmons will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 10, 2012 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers in Pineville with the Reverends Donald Lemmons and Robert Galloway officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 until 10:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Lemmons, 80, of Colfax, died Friday, December 7, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Lemmons retired after 45 years as a pipefitter and served as President of Local 669 Pipefitters/Sprinklerfitters Union of Washington DC. He also served in the United States Army and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Pollock.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Judson and Hazel Curry Lemmons; son, William G. Lemmons; and a sister, Mary L. Addison.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Schlette Lemmons; son, David K. Lemmons of Deville; daughters, Felecia A. Lemmons of Houston, Texas and Kasia L. Danzy and husband, Jon, of Colfax; a brother, Donald Lemmons and wife, Beth, of Deville; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steven Arnold, Calvein Danzy, Caleb Danzy, Kyle Roberts, Zach Danzy, Clay Lemmons and Lance Lemmons.

Russell taught me the importance of not taking everything so seriously and of how important a sense of humor is in living life. His devotion to his pets and family was unsurpassed by any other person I have ever known.
