Richard Harris "Tex" Blount

Funeral services will be Wed., Feb. 26 at 3:30 pm at St . James Catholic Church, Gadsden Alabama and Sat. Mar. 1 at Frink Baptist Church, Frink, Florida for Richard Harris "Tex" Blount, 74. of Gadsden, Alabama, who died Wed., Feb. 19, 2014. Father Marcus Voss, O.S.B. will officiate in Gadsden and Rev. Dan Thomas will officiate in Frink, Florida. Burial at McClellan Cemetery, Frink, Florida. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Peavy Funeral Home Blountstown, Florida directing.

Mr. Blount proudly serves his country first in the Marine Corps and then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in Vietnam as an air transportation supervisor. Upon his military retirement he worked in heating and air conditioning supply and retired from Solar Supply Co. in Alexandria where he lived until 2009. When he moved to Gadsden, Mr. Blount loved to ride his motorcycle, fishing, camping with his family and hunting. Most of all he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his spouse of 50 years, Ruthie Nichols Blount; parents, John Harrison Blount and Edna Lucille McGilvray Blount; brother Dale Wayne Blount; grandson, Samuel Nichols and granddaughter, Sandra McAdams Johnson.

Survivors are his daughters Patricia (Jim) McAdams of Gadsden Alabama, Bonnie (Randy) Bryn of Shreveport; sons Robert C. (Jan) Nichols of Boyce, Billy M. Nichols of Altha Florida, and Gene (Paula) Weaver of Lynn Haven Florida; sister Shirley Wilson of Reno Nevada; 17 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great Grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Catholic School Gift Fund.

Pallbearers Christopher J. McAdams, James Carlton Walden, Richard Graham, Jim McAdams, Johnny Kilgo, and Danny H, Walden.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Physicians and staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center; Denise, Lyndsi, Cara and the staff of AlaCare Hospice.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb 28 at 6:00 pm at Peavy Funeral Home.
