A memorial service for Dr. Bill McBride will be held on December 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Alexandria with Rev. David Boothe officiating.

Dr. William Anderson McBride of Alexandria, died Sunday, December 2, 2012, at the age of 88, known to many as Dr. Bill. He is preceded in death by his wife Diana Gillespie McBride and his sister Margaret Ann McLean.

He graduated from Davidson College and medical school at Tulane University. He and Diana married in 1949, started a general practice in rural Mississippi and then served as 1st lieutenant in the army medical corp. in Germany in the early 1950's. After returning to the states he went back to Tulane to get a specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Bill and Diana moved to Alexandria in 1956 with their four children and started his practice with the Physicians and Surgeons Clinic next to Baptist Hospital (Rapides General Hospital) and served the Central Louisiana area for 33 years.

Bill is remembered by his children: Bill and Cheryl McBride, Barbara McBride Hammond, Charles and Shelley McBride and Alice McBride. His grandchildren: Don and Jennifer Massey, Jeff and Amber Hammond, James and Brittaney Hammond, William McBride, Matthew and Kate Haslar, Scott McBride, Sam McBride, his niece Julie Ann McLean and seven great grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be made to French Camp Academy, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745 or to Calvary Baptist Church, Alexandria.
