Alexandria - Funeral service for George Goldman Fruge will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017 in the Chapel of White Oaks with Doctor David Brooks officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Marine Corp. Committal service will follow in the Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Alexandria.

George, 79, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 21, 2017 in his residence. He was born March 23, 1938 in Branch to the union of George Fruge and Edna Fruge. He served his country with pride in the United States Marine Corp. For 25 years, he was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a truck driver and worked for Ryder Truck Lines for an additional 25 years as a truck driver. He loved to hunt, fish, and was a local baseball couch and won the Dixie Boys World Series in 1977. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Fruge.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Ann Fruge of Alexandria; two sons, Mark Fruge of Alexandria and Jeff Fruge of Woodworth; one daughter, Ginger Barbier of New Orleans; one sister, Marie Cascio of Monroe; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers to serve will be Lee Fox, George Fruge, Michael Barbier, Jeff Fruge, Josh Cox, and Bronc McDaniel.

Visitation will be held in the Chapel of White Oaks - Alexandria on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 1 p.m. until time of service in the chapel.
