Slaughter - Joe Kelly Hoyt was born in Lecompte, Louisiana on January 29, 1956, the youngest child of Joseph L. "Jody" Hoyt and Jacqueline Fluitt Hoyt. He died on Friday, May 11, 2018, at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge. Joe graduated from Alexandria Senior High School in 1975, moved to Baton Rouge in 1978, and worked there for 39 years in the electrical trades. Joe loved blues music and was an accomplished blues player on both acoustic and electric guitar. He leaves behind and will be missed by his wife Nanette Heully Hoyt; his brother Samuel B. ("Sam" or "Breck") Hoyt and his wife Margie Lachney Hoyt; his sister Sandra "Andi" Hoyt Abraham and her husband Joe Abraham; nephews Breck Woody Hoyt and Ned Abraham; nieces M'Lee Hoyt Standley and Zina Abraham Whited; the many members of his big Hoyt and Fluitt families; and good friends made throughout his lifetime. Visitation will be from 9-11:00 a.m., Friday, May 18 at Magnolia Christian Assembly Church at 16425 Magnolia Bridge Road in Central. Funeral service will be at the church from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m., followed by burial at Felder Cemetery in Denham Springs, Louisiana.
