Funeral services for Homer Tilford Crews will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, September 26, 2013, at White Oaks Memorial Chapel with Reverend Greg Willis officiating. Committal service will follow in the Cryer Cemetery of Oakdale under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Homer, 84, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in his residence. He was born on June 20, 1929 in Black River to the union of Fred and Julius Hamilton Crews. He retired after serving thirty years as an operator at Fort Polk. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked at McDonald Construction for numerous years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, also a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mable Crews; his parents; and one sister, Elsie Mae Robinson.

He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, one son, Brian Crews, wife Cauley of Oakdale; step-children, Timothy Giles, James R. "Pee Wee" Giles, Joseph "Lucky" Giles, and Janice Clark, husband Johnny all of Oakdale and Connie Lambright, husband, Bobby of Texas; grandchildren, Kasey Lynn Crews and Brandon Keith Crews both of Oakdale; one niece, Julie Ann Johnson of Hineston; one nephew, Harold Ray Robinson of Forest Hill; and numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren; family and friends.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 11 am until 10 pm, then Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 9 am until service time in the chapel.
