Paul Weisshaar, Jr.
September 15, 1931 – September 26, 2025
Paul Weisshaar, Jr. passed peacefully on August 26, 2025, following a brief illness. He was born September 15, 1931 in Middletown, New York to Paul and Anna Mae Weisshaar. He spent his childhood in Circleville, NY, and attended University of Rhode Island, where he received his degree in civil engineering. Following graduation, he joined the US Army, where he served as a helicopter pilot in the Corps of Engineers.
On the Fourth of July, 1956, Paul had what he forever called "the best day of my life," meeting Judy Davis on a blind date. They were married December 29, 1956, and were inseparable until her passing on August 5, 2022.
Paul and Judy settled in Fremont, California, where he was employed by Fremont Engineers, in 1963. He eventually became the owner, until his retirement. Throughout his years, Paul held a variety of offices with local civil engineering/land surveying organizations.
Paul served many years as a member of Niles Rotary and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. In his spare time, he could be found on the links at Castlewood and with Par Five.
In 1997, Paul and Judy moved to Grass Valley. Paul was a member of the Alta Sierra Country Club, and spent many years on the course, developing strong friendships and enjoying time with family and friends.
Dixieland jazz was the soundtrack to Paul's life. He and Judy attended jazz festivals across the State, including an annual trip to the Sacramento Jazz Festival for many years. He was a proud supporter of the Sacramento Jazz Education Foundation, helping build a love of jazz for future musicians.
Paul knew life's greatest gift was family. He is survived by his son, Jeff Weisshaar; daughter, Janet Horowitz (Jordan); and grandchildren, Taylor Weisshaar (Molly), Leilani Horowitz, and Lahela Horowitz.
In accordance with their wishes, Paul and Judy will be interred together at the Sacramento Valley Veterans' Cemetery in a private ceremony.
