HOPKINTON - Harold D. McFadyen, 76, of Hopkinton, R.I., died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Lorinda (Hermans) McFadyen.
Born in Paterson, N.J. on Jan. 4, 1939, he was the son of the late Harold and Harriet (Crane) McFadyen.
Harold served his country proudly in the United States Coast Guard Reserves. He also was an arborist for many years and later went on to retire as a boilermaker with the local union 237.
Harold was an avid pilot, owning his own Cessna airplane for several years, and was a member of the AOPA. He also was a member of the American Legion Gordon Green Post in Hope Valley, R.I., and was a member of the NRA.
Besides his loving and devoted wife of over 57 years, he will be sadly missed by his children, Suzanne Gallup (Kevin), of Hopkinton, R.I., Nanette Probert (Burr) of North Stonington, Conn., Harold D. McFadyen II (Tonya), of Ashaway, R.I., and Scott V. McFadyen (Holly), of Westerly, R.I. He was the loving grandfather of Ariel, Nick, Kyle, and Robin; step-grandfather of Michael, Marissa, and Cody; and great-grandfather of Amaya, Cameron, and McKenzie. He also leaves his cousin, James McFadyen, of Florida.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at noon in the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St., Hope Valley, R.I. A calling hour will precede the service from 11 a.m. to noon.
